The Berlin Wall began construction on August 12, 1961 and it was later
destroyed on November 9, 1989. The event occurred in Berlin, Germany. The
Germans, Americans, French, Soviets, and British were involved. Mr. Khrushchev was a large part of whey the wall was built. Khrushchev wanted the wall built because he feared that
east Germany would not survive because of all the people leaving. A wall was
constructed around western Germany.
issues with the berlin wall
The Berlin wall is a perfect example of how land can provoke conflict. Once Berlin was split up into its parts, Russian felt the need to enforce socialist reform, in order to educate the land. As a result of this reform, the eastern part of Berlin did not perform as well as the West which led to problems relating job opportunities. The world felt like it was necessary for Germany to be split up amongst the allies but as a result it fueled the hate required for the Cold War.
